How is my child graded?

I utilize a weighted average when determining my grades.
Test-  30 %
Quizzes- 20 %
Projects-20 %
Labs- 20 %
Homework-10 %

What is the best way to reach me?

The best way to reach me is through e-mail through the teacher

Why do you give the students challenge questions?

Science is the one discipline that is continually changing.  
Social Studies, Math, and ILA are not subject to as many changes 
or advances in the field.  New discoveries are made in science 
everyday.  I am continually reading journals and magazines 
pertaining to science.  Many of my challenge questions come from 
the reading that I do.

My child does not seem to understand the challenge question?

For some chalenge questions, the question is designed before the 
topic is taught.  Sometimes, a student has to be patient and wait 
until I teach a topic before answering the question.  If I do not 
feel during the course of a week that a topic has been covered 
completely to answer the challenge question then I modify it by 
either giving more time to complete or removing a portion of the 
question.
