Hope that everyone had a Merry Christmas and that God will grant all a Happy
and Healthy New Year!!!!How proud we all are of the children with the
performance in the Christmas Pageant!! They were wonderful! Small children can
really tell the story of Jesus' Birthday in a very special way!Hope your
holidays are family and fun filled!!
We return to school as "Pre-2nd Graders" on January 4th!! The last few weeks
have been crazy with practices and just the children's excitement for Santa.
Now we buckle down again to really learning and listening!!!We will be working
on focusing, paying attention with less talking!!!! The work gets a bit
harder, so it is important to come back ready for the 2nd half of the year!!
In Religion, we will review the Jesse Tree and Christmas information
(sheet in JMJ). On Thursday there will be a TEST, also I will collect the JMJ;
it needs to be colored to date!!!On Wednesday we celebrate the Feast of the 3
Kings (Epiphany)or (Little Christmas).
In Math, we continue to work on tens and ones; we will be getting ready to
add/subtract 2 digit numbers to 99 in a short time!!!
In Spelling and Phonics, we begin long i!!Our Homework will be the same
routine; just work on those sentences; making them more descriptive. Let's not
forget the short vowels and long a; there are always rhymetime sheets to go
over!!
In Reading, we start our next story, talking about neighborhoods. Always
remember to ask those questions: Who?What?Where? When? Why?How????We continue to
review skills and work on new ones!!
A special thanks to our moms who made our gathering with the 8th graders very
special and also putting together the snacks for Polar Express!! The 8th
graders wrote the books that the children received; PLEASE have them bring
them back in, so that we all can read them and see how beautiful they are!!
It is now the year 2010!! Can you believe it!! We are half way through first
grade!!!Again I ask your cooperation and support in making the second half of
the year a great one!!
Mrs. K:)
