In 1982, Monsignor Peter Cruise and Mr. Ted Quedenfeld had a dream that St. James would be able to offer parents a Nursery School program that would encourage learning and social interaction in a playful and caring environment. Under the direction and guidance of Mrs. Judy Coughlin this dream became a reality. The former convent of the Sisters of St. Joseph was transformed with the help of many dedicated volunteers into the St. James Nursery School. The tradition of loving, supportive, play-based learning for children continues today. At St. James we understand that play is the way in which children make sense of the world around them.
