Where did January go? We came back from Christmas vacation, and the time
just seemed to fly by! We find ourselves in February, which promises to be
another busy month (Aren't they all???)
On February 1st, the 7th and 8th Grade will be holding a carnival for
our midweek Catholic Schools Week activity. It's a great afternoon of fun,
and we support Food for the Poor and The St. Vincent de Paul Society by
selling popcorn and lemonade. This is a free dress down day for all. There is
an early dismissal on Thursday the 2nd. At 10:00 the teachers will be
entertaining the student body with their version of "Minute to Win It!"
There will be a First Friday mass at 9:00 on Friday, followed by the
blessing of throats for St. Blaise Day. Join us at 6:00 Friday evening for
Family Bingo in the Gym. Eat your supper with us; there will be lots of good
food to buy.
St. John School has the distinction of being the first school in the
area to start a charter branch of The Leo Club, a youth group sponsored by
the Lions Club to serve the community. At 6:30 -7:30 on Tuesday February 7th
an official induction will be held in our gym. We are very proud of the work
these students have already accomplished. This is a big deal for all involved.
Marathon Mailers are due on Wednesday 2/8. Deficiencies will be mailed
on Friday the 10th.
We will exchange valentines on Tuesday the 14th at 1:30. A small treat
will be provided. Please do not send in anything else. Make sure every child
in the class receives a valentine from your son or daughter.
Team Chris will sponsor a bake sale on Wednesday the 15th. Students may
dress down for $ .50. Each class must have 100 marathon mailers returned to
school by Friday the 17th in order to get a free dress down day to be named
at a later date.
There will be no school on Monday, 2/20 in observance of Presidents Day.
Wednesday, 2/22 is Ash Wednesday. There will be a prayer service and
distribution of ashes in the church at 12:10.
On Wednesday 2/29, we will hold our annual spaghetti dinner. No hot
lunch will be served that day. Please make sure that your child brings a bag
lunch.
