How do I get the lunch menu?
The lunch menu can be obtained from the school website under the
lunch program link.
What is the content journal used for?
The content journal serves different purposes.
It is an opportunity for the students to implement more
writing strategies. One of our Middle States
goals is to have the students write in full sentences.
The students are supposed to follow this format with each
entry. These journals are also an opportunity for the teacher
to identify the comprehension level of a particular topic.
By having all of the subjects integrated into one journal,
teachers can have an idea on the subject matter being taught
in other subjects. This can help when planning instruction
to try to tie into the other subjects. The journal is given
with a particular format to follow. Students who have difficulty
following directions can also be identified when the format is
not correct. The content journal can serve as a helpful tool
in different ways to help our students grow and develop personally
and academically.
What is the ILA project all about?
ILA
Group Project
Students were randomly chosen to be in a group. Each group is
responsible for reading a story, play, or expository reading out
of our readers has been chosen for them already. They will
present their story through use of a written summary and
powerpoint and some creative activity or play. The breakdown is
as follows:
1) Groups of 4 – 6 students will be formed.
2) Each group will be assigned a reading from our Readers.
3) The groups will read the story and identify the story
structure.
4) Each member of the group will be given a duty (writer,
editor, presenter, recorder, supplies, etc.) Some may have more
than one role if desired.
5) Once the story is finished, the writer will draft a
summary.
6) The editor will use our editor’s marks and edit the draft.
7) The recorder will neatly write the final good
draft.
8) Once final draft is finished, we will create a power
point or museum box presentation
9) The group will present their stories to the class.
10) The rubric will be attached
11) Groups are welcome to confer via the phone, email, or
getting together only if needed. Most of this project will be
done in school. Any unfinished work or rehearsals of the
presentation can be done at home using the phone, email, or
getting together (Parent’s choice).
12) Creativity is welcomed. The sky is the limit!! Bring in
props, costumes, pictures, posters if you want (not mandatory).
13) Inserting video clips or pictures is also welcomed. I
can help to some degree but I am not a wiz at importing data.
Please call with any questions or concerns. Remember this is a
group effort. Please make sure your child is doing their share
to help their group earn the maximum points. A copy of the
rubric can be found under my rubric link.

What is the totally 10 project?
The totally 10 project is for 5th & 6th Religion is as follows:
Totally 10 Project
6th Religion
2 pt. Projects
Choose from the following projects to earn 10 total points. You
may only use two projects in each point category (only two of the
2pt projects not 5 of the 2 pt projects to earn 10 pts).
Create a word search using all faith words in Unit 2 2pts
Pick five important people we have read about in this unit and
give a brief description of what they did. 2pts
Make a drawing portfolio of all the saints learned (Aug - Mar).
Make sure their names are included in the picture. 2pts
Make up a religious song about one of the stories we learned in
this unit. 2pts.
4pt Projects
Create a time line for the events that occured starting from the last
event that occured in Unit one until the last event we discussed
in Unit two. 4pts
Pick a reading from the bible in the Old testament and the New
testament, briefly summarize the readings, then create a venn
diagram that shows differences and similarities 4pts
Write a poem about something from Unit 2. Be creative (not just
words on theme). Use pictures, construction paper, etc. Make your
poem come alive! 4pts
6 pt Projects
Create a unit test. Prepare questions regarding all chapters and
create an answer key that goes along with the test. Should have
at least 10 questions in each chapter for a total of 50
questions. 6pts
Respond to the following in an essay format (respond in a full sentence): 6pts.
Pick a topic from the Unit and compare and contrast
what you learned to today's society. What things
stayed the same and what has changed? 6pts
Make up a game that could be played to reinforce what has been
learned in this unit. The game must be appropriate with
questions, actions, or drawings. You make create a board game, a
physical game where you move, a word game, etc. You can not use
any games we already use in class. Must be creative and
reinforce all of the chapters (the more elements to the game, the
more points). 6pts
8 pt Projects
Create a script that could be acted out in class using what we
learned in the Unit. God or Jesus should be the main character.
Elements from each chapter should be included. The script will be graded
based on the content and creativity. Play should have at least 8
characters. 8pts
Create a video documentary that shows how God reveals himself to
us in everyday life. You would have to go around and video tape
different events like someone taking care of their property,
someone planting a tree, someone helping an elderly person with
their groceries etc. You will speak in the video and mention how
we can see God through these events. 8 pts
Give a power point presentation that summarizes each chapter to
the class so they would understand the unit if they never picked
up a book. Include images, video clips, ect. to support your
presentation. 8 pts.
10 pt Project
You will create an age appropriate book explaining each of the
chapters. Write it as if a student in K – 2 asked you what each
chapter means. How would you explain it to them so they can
understand? Use pictures and words appropriate to their level.
Your book needs a cover, table of contents, Chapters, and a
challenge page (quiz) at the end that asks questions to see how
they learned what they read at the end of the book ( create an
answer key for the questions). You should also put in fun
activities such as a word search, drawing pages, find an object,
open the secret doors to find something, etc. Scrapbooking material
makes for a great book or colored construction paper. Indent all
pages enough to hole punch and tie string or ribbon to bind the
book. I have an excellent example to preview, just ask. 10 pts
