How often do the children go to computer class?

Grades 1 -5 come to the computer lab once a week. They are divided in half
so I can teach a small class size of about 12 students. Sometimes the other
half of the class is in library class and other times they are doing small
group instruction in their classroom.

When do the junior high students use the computers?

We now have 60 laptops for the junior high students to share. The classroom
teacher signs out the laptops for her class on a sign up sheet outside the
computer room door. The 7th and 8th graders will share 30 and the 6th grade
have 30 to share. The teacher integrates technology into their everyday
lessons and I come into the classroom when needed with assistance.

Do the parents have to use RVS?

Yes. All parents are given a user name and password for each child in their
family. Training is held for all new parents before they begin using the
program. This is a great tool to actively be in the know with your child's
education. Teachers will post all grades by the 15th and 30th of each
month. THere are no official progress reports half way through the semester.
If there is a concern at any time the parents or teachers can request a
conference. No more waiting until mid trimester.

How are the SMARTboards working out?

Thanks to the Home and School's Main Event in 2005 every classroom in grades
1-8 is equipped with a ceiling mounted projector and a SMARTboard. A new
computer is attached to the SMARTboard. The children and teachers are
finding new and inovative ways to use this new equipment. The reviews are
fantastic. The children are engaged every minute of the lesson and the
knowledge is just sinking in.
