Announcements

Happy Thanksgiving!
In this time of giving thanks, I thank all of you for sending your
child/children to St. Max! I hope all of you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Please remember to stay on top of your school work and homework!
THE FIRST TRIMESTER ENDS ON WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 26TH... There is STILL time
to pull your grades up (if necessary) --- study - study - study... and do
all of your work/assignments! That's the key!

GRADES 6-7-8 --- PLEASE REMEMBER THAT YOUR PROJECT IS DUE ON TUESDAY,
NOVEMBER 25TH!

Grades 6-7-8 are definitely back into the swing of things and Grade 5 is
adjusting well to their new Math setting!

Some Grading Information:
Math grades in Honors Math are Weighted as follows:
   Homework = 20%
   Math Maintenances/Quizzes = 15%
   Participation/Classwork = 10%
   Projects/Long-Term Assignments (Packets) = 15%
   TESTS = 40%

Please note... ALL STUDENTS should remember the following things:

Math students should be prepared for class each and every day...
that means - MAKE SURE TO HAVE YOUR SUPPLIES EACH AND EVERY DAY!
Remember that it is YOUR responsibility (not Mom/Dad) to be prepared each
day with your copybook, textbook, homework, assignments, and supplies! (You
will not be permitted to call home for missing assignments/items.) Math is
meant to be done in pencil, and mistakes happen - so a good eraser is an
excellent tool to have!

Throughout the school year your child will work on solving math problems,
word problems, taking daily maintenances, quizzes/tests, and projects/long-
term assignments! Please be active participators in their daily studies -
ask them what they are learning in school (and don't let them get away with
the infamous - "nothing" answer!) Tests will be announced in advance, so
students will have ample time to study! When projects/long-term assignments
(packets) are assigned, it would definitely be a good idea NOT TO WAIT until
the weekend/day before it is due to complete it!

Please remember that it is important for your child to maintain the
requirements of staying in the Honors Math program. The Archdiocese of
Philadelphia is very strict about these requirements!

Please refer to RVS (River Valley Software) for test scores, missing
assignments (homework), etc. Tests/Quizzes/Maintenances/Projects will be
sent home for you to see (after they are marked). Please sign them and
return them the next day! Thank you!

Thank you for sending your child(ren) to St. Maximilian Kolbe School. I
look forward to continuing to get to know all of you!
