Travel Training is short-term, self-paced, comprehensive
instruction designed to teach students with disabilities learn
how to travel safely and independently on public transportation.
If Travel Training is discussed during a student's I.E.P., an
attempt will be made to determine if the home school district
offers Travel Training. This is important since the initial training
ususally begins at the student's residence.
If the home school district does not offer travel training, we will
work with students using the W.P.S.D. campus as their home
base so that their ability to ride independently is assessed. This
restriction may not apply to Allegheny County residents. The
Developmental Disabilities Office or the I.U. may also provide
travel training services in your area.
