ABOUT THE TEACHER:

I graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a B.A. in Communication Disorders, and an M.Ed. in Deaf Education.  I worked as a full-time educational interpreter and also at Pressley Ridge with children who had behavioral and emotional issues before becoming a teacher for the deaf. My first year here I was a full-time sub. I then taught in the "behavioral" classroom  for a year where I had students who had a tough time focusing in class. From there I taught in the elementary department for a few years. I then  moved to the "White House" and taught PreK for a few years followed by 1st grade for 2 years and back to Prek. In October 2008, I took over the drama, tv broadcasting, and film classes! This is where I am today. It has been a blast!

WHY DRAMA?

I enjoy teaching drama because it gives me a creative outlet. Any of my past students and co-workers could probably tell you that I can be a "goof ball" in class. I love to make the students laugh, but being an "ordinary" teacher requires you to be serious too. Now I get to laugh and "play" all day long. I also love teaching all ages. Each age and each child brings a new dynamic to my classroom and makes my job fun and interesting.

OTHER INTERESTS:

I love spending time with my family and enjoy the outdoors. We could be sitting around a fire or taking a walk- it doesn't matter to me, as long as the weather permits, I prefer to be outside. One of my favorite hobbies is photography. I have many MANY pictures of just about everything. Although, my kids are my favorite subject. I also enjoy reading true stories, biographies or real events and writing poetry. I do love animals too! I have a dog, 2 cats, 2 turtles, an African Spurred Tortoise (don't ask) :-), and a ball python (don't ask again) :-). You will often find me just hanging around with friends and family. I Love People, I find them very interesting at times.

MISSION FOR THE CLASS:

"This is the place to love, explore, experience, learn, teach, and inspire!"
