Welcome to the unofficial Wilson Warriors Cross Country website.
On this page you will find a little about the coaches, the recent history of
Wilson XC, and some highlights for the season. We also have middle school
that runs after all the varsity races, but does not score in the meet. We
also have a brand new course at Williams Township Elementary.
About Coach Browne (Head Coach):
I was assistant coach to John Polefka for two years (03 - 04). In 2005
I took over the program as head coach. This is currently my 7th year as
head coach. I graduated from Pleasant Valley High School in 99' where I was
named the most valuable runner on my team. I ran at the collegiate level at
East Stroudsburg University from 1999-2002. My senior year I was the third
runner on my team, where I was also voted the most valuable runner that
year.
I have been teaching Mathematics at Wilson High for 9 years and truly
love it. I now live in Breinigsville Pa. (Parkland S.D.) with my wife Lacy,
our former assistant coach and current English teacher at the high school. We
have one child, Nolan Joseph Browne, who will be 3 years old in October a
brother in January!

Coach Falcone graduated from Palmerton Area High School in 2004, where
he participated in Cross Country, Basketball, and Baseball all four years.

Scrimmage Highlights (@ Home): Palmerton came to visit just a few days before
Hurricane Irene hit the course. The boys went 1-2-3 in a close meet, where
the girls went 2-3-4-5-6-7 in and easy victory. Many new faces running their
first ever race and I am proud of all of you for such a great accomplishment.
Congrats to Sydney for breaking the Wilson course record for middle school
and to Ashleigh Lesko for breaking the sophomore school record.
Week 1 Highlights (Moravian Invitational): The day started off well with two
middle school runners finishing in the top 5. Spencer Muff received a 5th
place medal finishing only 7 seconds behind the Matt Handley's Wilson record
of 9:04. Sydney Brannon beat the all time Wilson middle school record on this
course by almost 30 seconds while finishing 3rd. The other two medalists on
the day were Jaryd Flank's 4th overall (3rd AAA) finish and Ashleigh Lesko's
9th place AA medal. Many others ran extremely well and set personal bests.
We will be back at Moravian next week to try to get even faster!
Week 2 Highlights (@ Moravian/ DeSales Inivational): Boys took a couple of
tough losses but picked up 5 wins on the day thanks to Flank's annihilation of
Eric Busher!! The girls won 4 races on the day and lost 3. Spencer Muff won
his first ever race for the middle school boys, while Sydney and Julia went
1-2 for the girls.
The boys and girls both finished 20th overall as they focused on the
individual finishes. The three medalist on the day were Jaryd Flank in the
boys varsity (19), Julia Sjodahl in the girls middle school (8), and Spencer
Muff in the boys middle school (5). Amir Stafford also finished with one shoe
and toe sock. This was a brand new course that is usually reserved for
college races.
Week 3 Highlights (@ Northwestern Lehigh): Julia Sjodahl finished first in the
girls middle school race braking elusive barrier of 10:00, in 9:56!!! Flank
took 1 wrong turn costing him about 5-6 seconds, yet he still beat Justin
Berger's time from 3 years ago by 1/4 of a second! Lesko ran the 2nd fastest
time of any girl from our team in the past 10 years.
Week 4 Highlights (@ Northern Lehigh/ Hershey Invitational): Sydney Brannon
narrowly missed beating Spencer Muff in the middle school shadow! We got to
see a nice battle between Dutt and Gulick as well. Jaryd finished first
overall and the girls highest finish was 6th by Ashleigh. The girls again had
to forfeit all races, but on the upside, let's welcome new comer and freshman
Madi Quinn to the team!
Flank finished the sloppy, muddy, smelly, PIAA course in 34th place wqhile
Lesko finished her race in 56th. Those were the two best finishes of the day.
Happy Birthday to Amir Stafford.
Week 5 Highlights (@ Salisbury): The girls, again, did not have enough runners
to compete today, but we will be running 6 again next week! Ashleigh Lesko
and Jaryd Flank were the top runners on the Varsity team while Julia Sjodahl
finished first in the middle school girls race. Oh yeah...Bangor beat Notre
Dame!!
Week 6 Highlights (@ Bangor): On a wet and still sloppy course, The boys
avenged their early season loss to NWL without one of their top runners.
Jaryd moves ever so closely to Stelmack. Maddy Quinn made her Wilson XC
debut...Congrats!!
Week 7 Highlights (Home Meet): Jaryd Flank and Ashleigh Lesko both set new
Wilson Course records. Jaryd's time ranks him second all time. Julia set a
new total course record breaking the old 1.5 mile course time of 10:34, in
9:42!!! The Washburn sisters also had great races, as did the rest of the
team. The boys and girl both avenged a loss from early in the season. Also,
Matt handley beat Anthony Calantoni.
Week 8 Highlights ( Colonial League Championships @ Moravian Ac. / Palisades):
The middle school championships proved to be a great day! Everyone seemed to
have their best race. Washburn ran a personal best and finished 25th
overall!! Sydney Brannon took home the first ever individual championship at
any level in my coaching tenure at Wilson. Julia finished second, tying her
for the best finish I have ever had prior to today. Spencer, who told me XC
was was losers last year, finished an impressive season with a 4th place
medal.
Today was among one of my best days of coaching ever! I mean it! Everyone
was cheeing for everyone else and I loved it. Flank finished 2nd overall and
Ashleigh lesko was the girls top finisher in 16th...beating the elusive
Corcoran! Matt Boercher ran out of mind and beat Chorozak in route to a 3rd
place medal in the JV race. Boys who were 5th all season finished 3rd today
and girls had the biggest surprise of the day going from 9th in the regular
season to 5th!!! Go Wilson!!!
Week 9 Highlights ( Districts @ Bethlehem Municipal Park/ Hurricane Invite):
The top few middle school athletes went to BMGC to run an invitational against
bigger school. Specer took home a 14th place medal while Sydney and Julia
took home 1-2!! respectively. Great race middle schoolers.
The girls continued there late season surge with a 5th place district finish!
Impressive. The girls were led by Ashleigh Lesko's 13th place STATE
QUALIFYING finish. Jaryd paced the boys to a 15th place AAA finish where
Jaryd missed a district title by only 7 seconds...ugh!! Congrats to jaryd on
being the school's first ever AAA state qualifier. I love this sport!
Week 10 Highlights ( PIAA Championships meet @ Hershey ):
Jaryd Finished 62nd overall in route to being the #1 District 11 runner. His
time of 17:01 is a new Wilson Record.
Ashleigh Lesko finished 133rd in route the 7th best district 11 runner,
beating 6 girls that beat her the previous week. Great job to both athletes!!
