About The Teacher

    Miss Leonarda Sperrazza is a graduate of Wilkes University and holds a 
Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education, a Bachelor of Arts degree in 
English, and a Master's degree in Education. Miss Sperrazza teaches  General 
Music classes to grades K through Six at Tenth Street, Kindergarten music 
classes at JFK Elementary and Chorus Class at the High School, which consists 
of 70 students in grades 7 through 12.  

     During the school year 2007-2008, Miss Sperrazza initiated an extra-
curricular chorus comprised of sixth grade students. The students met after 
school on Tuesdays for a 45 minute rehearsal each week. The culminating 
activity was a performance with the high school chorus at a concert in May 
of 2008. Several outstanding sixth grade students also performed at Wyoming 
Area's graduation on June 8, 2008.
   This Tenth Street Chorus continues to thrive and currently is composed 
of fifth and sixth grade students from Tenth Street Elementary. The chorus 
continues to meet weekly, On Tuesdays, for a forty-five minute rehearsal, 
and is looking forward to performing at the WA High School Chorus concert on 
December 17, 2009.
      In September of 2009 Miss Sperrazza assumed the position of Drama 
Director at Tenth Street. Currently, the students are working on a holiday 
musical entitled The North Pole Goes Rock and Roll. The musical is scheduled 
for a performance on Monday, December 21, 2009 at 7pm at Tenth Street.
    Miss Sperrazza is also active as a church organist and as a private 
piano teacher. She is a member of the National Guild of Piano Teachers, the 
PA Music Teachers' Association, and the National Federation of Music Clubs. 
Her piano students perform in area competitions sponsored by the Junior 
Mozart Club and the PA Music Teachers Association. The students have 
consistently placed in the top category of scoring and have performed at 
state conventions in various locations, such as Penn State(main campus), West 
Chester University, Marywood University, and Susquehanna University.
     As director of the WA High School Chorus, Miss Sperrazza and her 
students have performed  at various community functions, such as the Wyoming 
tree lighting ceremony, the Retired Teachers Association Christmas Dinner,the 
Pride Mobility Christmas Party at Gus Gennetti's and most recently, at the 
Fox Hill Country Club's Presendential Ball.
