Welcome to the Secondary Center and English 7! Here are some rules that will allow you to do well in English class and maybe have some fun along the way.

 

1.     Respect for yourself and others. You will be allowed to express your opinion but you must express yourself without inappropriate language or gestures.  You will allow others to express their opinion without ridicule. In other words, no cursing or making fun of others.

2.     Be prepared for class.  Everyday you must bring your notebook, folder, writing utensil and book unless I tell you differently.

3.     Keep an open mind. This class will be somewhat different than elementary school. Listen to me and you will be fine.

4.     Keep up with the assignments. There is some homework (vocabulary, reading, and journal entries) and I expect it to be completed.  Homework will be checked the following day.

5.     Use your folder and notebook.  Everything you do in class needs to have a home. Notebooks are checked the day of the test for each section. Notes in front of notebook, homework in middle.

  6.     Before class begins, there will be an EverydayEdit. These are short and not difficult. They will be completed as other students are coming into the classroom.  We will check them at the beginning of class.  If you have the correct answer(s) on the first try you will receive full credit. If you have errors, correct them.  Anyone who has 10 consecutive correct papers will receive a homework pass.

7.     Tests and quizzes will always be announced and will be on the homework hotline. Makeup tests will be taken within 3 days of return to class. Failur to make up a test within 3 days will result in a zero(0) for the test.Quizzes (10pts each) are not made up unless there is an unusual circumstance.

 

I hope that you will enjoy this class (even if you never liked English before 7^th grade.)  If you have a problem, please see me after class or I am available Tuesdays after school.
