The students really enjoyed making and tasting Stone Soup. The recipe is
listed here so you can make this tasty soup with your family.
1. Chop carrots, onions, celery, and potatoes into bite-sized pieces. Use as
much as your family likes. We made sure our soup was full of good veggies.
2. Brown beef cubes in a pan with a little olive oil. Sprinkle with salt and
pepper.
3. Put beef and chopped vegetables into a pot. (We used a crock pot).
4. Add barley. Use as much as you want, depending on how much soup you're
making. We used about 1 cup.
5. Add water to the pot, making sure you cover the ingredients in the pot and
add extra (the barley will soak up the water as it cooks and expands).
6. Put in the magic stones (beef bullion cubes). Use one for every cup of
water you use.
7. Cook on high in the crock pot for 5-6 hours or until vegetables are
tender. If using stove top, bring to a boil for a few minutes, then cook on
simmer several hours until vegetables are tender.
8. Enjoy your Stone Soup!
