Because of the volume of papers that come home, your child’s yellow folder
needs to be emptied daily.
Noteworthy News
On Fridays, It helps if you put ice cream money in lunch boxes rather than in
envelopes in the folder. If we forget to remind them, we cannot let them go
back to our room once we are in the caf. For children who are purchasing
lunch, an envelope or their pockets are fine.
The Weeks in Review
We concluded Theme 9 Week 1 Spring is Here. Our comprehension strategy was
sequencing.
We have introduced the vowel /e/ but still continue to work on still on the
vowels /a/, /i/,and/o/. Please continue to do the flash cards faithfully.
New words are coming upon us rather quickly and
automaticity is critical for good readers. So drilling with the words the
have is very important. Theme 10 introduces /u/.
We began and will complete next week Topic 14, Time. We will only be telling
time to the hour.
Because we are doing sequencing every day in Kid Write it would help if when
talking to your child about the day, you asked them to describe their day.
The days are mostly the same routine, so this would not be difficult to
describe.
No homework April 18th, 19th, or 20th.
Coming Attractions:
[Lessons are always tentative. Plans do change!]
We will finish the topic on time in math. After the Easter break we will
start Theme 9, week 2.
Because the weather is changing we ask that your child is dressed so she/he
can go outside even for a few minutes. We spend so much of the day in our
room that it is important to get out for fresh air and a change of scenery if
at all possible. Hats and scarves are really important because of all the
coughs and sniffles.
A homeroom mother will contact you about a treat for the children's Easter
basket. We will fill our baskets on Wednesday afternoon, April 20th. There
are 17 students in the class.
Dates to remember:
Easter Vacation begins April 21st to the 26th
Have a great weekend,
