CurriculumReading- Students will be working on Theme Four,Amazing Animals. During the next few weeks we will be enjoying the theme, Amazing Animals. We will read about some incredible and hilarious animals: a dog that gives safety tips, ants that build colonies, and a bat that plays lacrosse.
Math- Topic 18: Three Digit Addition and Subtraction- We will learn different ways to add and subtract three digit numbers. Writing Process- To help our class get to know each other, the students write and illustrate an All About Me story. We share our stories with the class and then make a class book. The book is added to our classroom collection of All About Me books written by my previous classes. All of the books are available to read at the student's leisure throughout the school year. Children wrote a silly story about an imaginary character that comes into our classroom. After going on a nature walk with a family member, each child brought in something they found on that adventure. They wrote a descriptive story about their nature find and we made a class display of the nature find along with their story. We hope you enjoyed the holiday poem each child brought home! Students wrote a friendly letter to President Obama. Hopefully our letters will be answered by the end of this school year. Cursive Writing- The time students have waited for since they have entered second grade has finally arrived, CURSIVE WRITING. Wyoming Area has established a proceedure to be followed for cursive writing. Individual letters are presented by their stroke not in sequential order. Lower case letters are taught first, followed by capital letters. Please do not introduce cursive writing to your child at home. This may only confuse him/her when they are introduced cursive writing in the second grade classroom. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation of this request.
