I am using a points system this year. Every quarter, the amount of points
possible may fluctuate, but below is a general guide:
English:
Homework/Class Participation= 100
Journal=100
Notebook=100
Project=200
Quizzes= 100
Tests=between 200 and 400
Essay=100
Speech=100
Total= between 1000 and 1200 points per quarter
Writing and Communications:
Homework/Class Participation=100
Speeches=200
Essays=200
Journal=100
Quizzes=200
Total=800 points
If you see that your child is not earning enough points or he/she is at risk of
failing if certain assignments are not completed, then please encourage your
child to increase study time and improve work habits. I will be doing the same.
You can also look at your child's progress and see what area they need help in
(I do this as well). If his or her homework grade is low, then encourage them
to complete assignments, or if his or her test average is low, then encourage
more study time,etc.
