Dress Code

Dress Code

All students are expected to be in school uniform at all times.

Boys:

A white dress shirt, with long or short sleeves, properly tucked in, gray dress pants with a black belt, and a navy blue tie must be worn. Solid black footwear must be worn.

New: Boys must be clean shaven at all times.

Girls:

(Grades 1-6) The official Mary, Mother of Peace plaid jumper worn with a white peter pan collar must be worn. Navy blue knee socks or blue or black stockings are mandatory. Solid black footwear must be worn.

(Grades 7 & 8) The official Mary, Mother of Peace plaid skirt of modest length(2 inches above the knee), a white oxford dress shirt, with long or short sleeves, properly tucked in, must be worn. Navy blue knee socks, blue or black stockings are mandatory. Black footwear must be worn.

Summer Dress Code:

During September through October, and April through June, white golf shirts, properly tucked in may replace the white oxford dress shirt.

Hair and Make-up:

Boys: Hair cuts should be neat and trimmed and must be above the shirt collar. Braids are allowed, but boys' length must be above the shirts collar. Afros of not more than two inches in length are permitted. No fads or trendy styles will be permitted.

Girls: Extreme hair styles, makeup, and nail polish are not permitted.

Gym Uniforms:

Students must wear their gym uniform on the assigned day. No other types of clothes are permitted. Navy blue sweatpants, sweatshirts, and gold tee-shirts are to be worn. Navy blue shorts may be worn during September, October, April, and May. Only Mary, Mother of Peace or plain navy blue sweats may be worn.

Jewelry:

Although jewelry is not a part of the school uniform, post earring of a small and conservative style are permitted to be worn by the girls (one earring only in each ear). Boy are not permitted yo wear earrings. Bracelets, ankle and wrist, pins and buttons are not a part of the school uniform. This includes all rope, yarn and beaded neck, wrist and ankle bands. A religious medal or cross on a chain is permitted.

Out Of Uniform:

If at any time during the year an exception in uniform is necessary, a note of explanation must be sent to the child's teacher who will forward it to the principal. This note should indicate the expected date by which the uniform will be complete. Any student not in compliance with the dress code will receive a demerit. Personal appearance that constitutes a distraction is not permitted. Final approval/disapproval is at the discretion of the Principal.
