Scheduling

There have been many changes made to the master schedule for this year. First,
we have changed the way specials classes are delivered to middle school
students. All students in the 6th, 7th, and 8th grades will have the
following specials:

Art, Music, Family and Consumer Science, Technology, Gym, and Health.

Each of these specials meet 5 days per week for a 9 week grading period except
for music which meets 3 days per week.

Another change that you will see is that 6th and 7th graders have gone
from having separate Reading and English classes to instead having a 2 period
Language Arts block.

The third big change that we are implementing is in the Special Education area
and will result in greater inclusion for special ed students in
the regular classroom.

All of these changes together have necessitated that we also change our period
arrangement. The 2009-2010 school year has also seen the middle school
changing to an eight period day.

Below are the courses that students are required to take, as well as
electives for each grade. 7th and 8th students who were not proficient on the
latest PSSA math and reading assessment will also be scheduled into math
