Interesting Facts:
When I was in high school, I began to teach reading at the East Harlem
Protestant Parish Tutoring Project on 106th Street and 2nd Avenue in NYC.

In college as an undergraduate I tutored for the East Baltimore Tutoring
Project run by the Chaplain's Office under Dr. Chester Wickwire at Johns
Hopkins
University. I also took part in an experimental program, run by Florence
Howe, M. A., at Goucher College as a teacher of poetry in the Baltimore City
Schools.

I attended London University and Sir John Cass School of Art with Beaver
College's study abroad program.

I have attended the Confratute run by Drs. Joseph Renzulli and Sally Reis at
the University of Connecticut.
My home school participates in the School Enrichment program.

All students can learn to read, and all students can improve their reading ability.

Every child can learn to read. There is documentation that shows that
children who cannot speak can learn to read.
The key is to saturate the learning environment with
meaningful print, also called available or environmental print.

Every child can succeed at school if the will to succeed is there.

Finally, every child can achieve. I have never had a child not rise at least
one reading level after tutoring or taking my course. These are my
expectations for my classroom.
