Mathematics for the Technologies 1 focuses on the ability of the student’s
ability to understand and apply mathematics. Students are expected to use
scientific/graphing calculators. This course includes but is not limited to
instruction in the following areas: arithmetic, evaluating variable
expressions, operations with matrices, field properties, solving and graphing
linear equations and inequalities, slope and writing linear equations.

TI-83 plus calculators will be made available to students during class
Grading Policy:
Nine weeks grades will be based on grades from chapter tests, quizzes,
homework, and class work.
Chapter tests are always announced in advance. Any student absent on the day
of a test is responsible for arranging a time with me to make up the test. No
test grades will be dropped.
Quizzes will be given on a regular basis and will sometimes be unannounced.
At the end of the 9 wks, I will drop your lowest quiz grade before averaging
your final grade.
Homework will be checked regularly and a grade will be assigned based on the
effort and completeness of the work. Homework is only accepted on the day it
is due…no late homework is accepted. At the end of the 9 wks, I will drop
your lowest homework grade before averaging your final grade.

Test Average 45%
Quiz Average 35%
Homework Average 20%
Semester grades:
First Nine weeks 40%
Second Nine weeks 40%
Final Exam 20% (no exemptions)
