I grew up in Georgia and graduated from Agnes Scott College in Decatur,
GA with a double major in English and Music. I married Cal Colvin, moved to
Holly Hill, and became organist and choir director of Holly Hill United
Methodist Church for 36 years. We were the parents of four children (Claire,
Connie, Cal,Jr., and Bob) and I taught three of them here at HHA. I am very
proud that I now have eight grandchildren.
My husband Cal Colvin and I were among the founders of Holly Hill
Academy in 1970. He was HHA's first President (1970-1983)and an inspiration
to us all. When he died in 1983, I was elected President of HHA. It has been
a position of joy to me because I love the school so dearly.
I taught High School English for 41 years, and it was also fun to
teach Public Speaking. (I even taught Latin for several years, and that,
too, was an experience!!) I have been privileged to teach children of my
first students, and that is great because I love these students for the rest
of their lives. This year I am only in the 12th grade classroom, but I am in
the Library, have my double sextette, and am adviser for the school newspaper,
THE RAIDER'S DIGEST. I really miss the classroom and the students, but I see
them some in the Library and around school.
