I have a BA degree from Baptist College (Charleston Southern). I spent many
years in retail business before coming to HHA to teach Spanish. I began
teaching at HHA in 1992. I am married to Greg Wiles, and have a daughter,
Virginia, who is a junior at The University of South Carolina at Aiken,
majoring in nursing. I am the sponsor for the Class of 2013.
My mission for Spanish class is for the students to learn the mechanics of
the Spanish language, including vocabulary. 2 units are required for
graduation. During the Spanish 3 elective, we concentrate more on speaking
and reading comprehension. My love of music has made the Music Appreciation
class a joy to teach. I hope to show my students the role that music has had
in history, evolving constantly. Hopefully, they will develop an appreciation
and love for it. Along the way, I hope to help my students increase their
life skills. Requiring my students to treat each other with respect is very
important to me. I hope that they feel that they can come to me with any
problem, whether or not it is school related. They all seem to find my "back
in the dark ages when I was in high school" stories hilarious, and some times
eye-opening.
