Mrs. Gannon and fifth graders during the Salt Dough Map Project
I'm Mrs. Gannon, and the 2009/2010 school year marks my fourteenth year as a teacher. It is my eighth year at Lady's Island Middle School, and before transferring there I spent six years at Hilton Head Middle School as a media specialist and a grade six teacher.
I have always wanted to be a teacher, from as long as I can remember. I love history and want to share that with my students. I believe that children need to get their hands into history - whether that's through simulations, history labs, technology. It allows them to connect to our past, and that connection leads to understanding.
When I'm not working, I love spending time with my husband and my family that still lives in Beaufort. I have a three year old pomeranian named Tasia and a nine year old Himalayan cat named Dax.
I love to read mystery and science fiction novels and learning about new technology. I enjoy cooking, and will often search the internet for new recipes and ideas. My husband and I love to take long road trips - the furthest we've ever driven is the Grand Canyon.
