| Students normally have homework Monday through Thursday evenings. Most
homework will include a math sheet, a book on your child's reading level to
be read by the student, a worksheet that accompanies that book, and some
evenings students will have a phonics sheet.
Homework should normally take about 20 minutes, not including the time spent
reading the book. If your child is taking much longer than this to complete
homework without interruption, please feel free to shorten the assignments
using your best interest - then drop Mrs. Alexander a brief note on the
homework assignment sheet.
Children at this age will need the support and guidance of an adult while
completing homework but please avoid doing the work for your child.
Students will earn a smiley face every morning that they come to school with
a homework folder free from any papers except their homework, their name on
each page of homework, homework completed with neat handwriting, and a
parent or guardian signature verifying their reading. Once a student has
earned 10 smiley faces, they will get a FREE HOMEWORK PASS to be used at any
time!
