Principal's Message

On behalf of the faculty and staff, I welcome you to the Woodruff Primary School family! We believe the parent is the child's first teacher, so we encourage you to be involved in your child's early educational experiences. We believe the community is important to children's educational success. We are thankful to be part of such a supportive community. Student achievement in a safe, secure learning environment is our primary goal. We appreciate you and your continuing support during the 2009-2010 school year. We look forward to working closely with you to accomplish our goals for your child. Sincerely, Kim McAbee

December Community Service Project

We will donate coats and blankets to the Helping Hands of Woodruff to help families in our community stay warm this winter. Please bring items to the top of the cafeteria.

Mary Black Foundation Community Champion Award

WPS was awarded the prestigious Mary Black Foundation Community Champion Award for Early Childhood Development in a ceremony held on October 15th. This award is designed to recognize outstanding individuals and organizations working to improve the early care and education of children ages birth to five in Spartanburg County. The Community Champion Award comes with a gift of $25,000.00. We are very thankful to the Mary Black Foundation for recognizing the value of quality early childhood education.

Lowe's Toolbox for Learning Grant

We are excited that Mrs. Brown, our media specialist, received the Toolbox for Learning grant from Lowe's for $5,000.00. Mrs. Brown has used these funds to create a reading courtyard just off the school library. It contains a table, benches, planters and statues that make this outdoor space an inviting reading environment for our little ones. It was a popular spot during our most recent Family Literacy Night as parents and children enjoyed reading books on the benches in such a pleasant setting. Mrs. Brown was appreciative of all of the assistance provided by the employees of Lowe's in this project. She also had many parent volunteers to help with this work. She appreciates them. And we appreciate Mrs. Brown as she is always thinking of ways to connect children with books!
