What do I need to do if I need to pick up my child early?
If your child needs to be dismissed early from school, please send a note
letting me know what time you will be picking them up. I will have them ready
to go at that time. Please do not pick your child up for early dismissal
after 1:45 pm. Thanks for your help with this!
How should I let you know if my child is going home a different way?
Please send a note with the child's full name and date and I will make sure
they go home the correct way. It is best not to leave transportation
information on my voicemail as it may not be checked before the end of the day.
How should I send an excuse if my child has been sick?
Parents can write an excuse or send a doctor's excuse if the child has seen
the doctor. Excuses need to be sent in within three (3) days of the absence.
After 10 absences, all excuses must be a doctor's note.
What does my child need to bring to school?
Each day, your child should bring their homework folder and their bookbag.
They should NOT bring toys or stuffed animals from home -- this leads to tears
if things become missing or broken. Thanks for your help with this, Mom and Dad!
What kind of snacks do you want me to send for my child?
Please send an individual snack for your child each day. I would prefer no
chocolate or candy, because we do have a hard time with a lot of sugar. :) We
have a "working snack" during our reading workshop, so please send something
that your child can eat without making a mess. Things that require spoons
don't work well for snack time!
What is your special class schedule?
Monday - P.E. (Remember to wear tennis shoes!)
Tuesday - Math computer lab
Wednesday - Art
Thursday - Reading computer lab
Friday - Music/Library
What time does school start?
School starts at 7:50 am each morning. Students arriving at 8:00 or later are
considered tardy. If your student is tardy, a parent needs to accompany
him/her into the building to sign them in.
Can I eat lunch with my child?
We would love to have you join us for lunch! Please let me know at least a
day in advance so I can include you on our lunch count for the day. Our lunch
time is from 12:22-12:47.
Can I send in cupcakes or treats for my child's birthday?
Unfortunately, we have students with food allergies so please only send
non-edible treats such as pencils, stickers, or goody bags to celebrate
birthdays. Lots of sugar leads to difficulty in focusing and lack of
concentration so we learn better without sugary goodies!
How does a homework pass work?
If your child has a homework pass that they would like to use, please staple
or tape the pass to their assigned math homework. Put their name on the pass
and the homework assignment they are using the pass on. Homework passes are
only good for MATH - your child still needs to complete their assigned reading
and spelling homework.
