Miscellaneous:
Arrival/Attendance:
- School begins at 7:45 am. Students arriving after 7:50 am will be marked tardy. Please manage your morning time carefully. Students sitting in the car line at 7:50 will be counted tardy.
- Students who check out of school early and do not return will receive a tardy. 4 tardies = 1 absence. Please review the ATES student handbook for more information. If you have a question about attendance, please contact the office.
- Please be sure to send a note for the office when your child returns to school after an absence. Notes should be labeled with the teacher’s name, and child’s first/last name.
- ATES practices a Fever Free Policy. We ask that your child be free from fever for at least 24 hours before you send them back to school. I will be sure to get the make-up work to your child.
Visitors:
All visitors (including parents) must check in through the office and receive a visitor pass. Please bring in your driver’s license because they will check it.
Lunch:
- You are encouraged to send checks or cash to school to cover your child’s lunch. Charging is strongly discouraged. It is easiest to send the money for the week on Monday. There will be a zip pocket in the BEE Binder where you can put the money. Please put all money in an envelope or Ziploc and write the following: child’s name, lunch money, Mrs. Coats’ 1st grade, and date.
- Our lunch time will be 12:35-1:00 at Table 1. I ask that you allow our class the first 2-3 weeks of lunch without any visitors. This is the time where we work on our routine and practice good lunch behavior. If you would like to join your child for lunch after the first couple of weeks, please feel free.
Checks:Please write your child's name and my name in the "memo" section of your check. Always make it out for the exact amount. When sending cash, please send exact change as we are not allowed to make change. You must write a separate check for each thing, due to bookkeeping.
Birthdays:
Birthdays are a time to celebrate! You are welcome to send goody bags or other items for each student (pencils, erasers, etc.). If you choose to send cupcakes they must be store bought and please let me know in advance. Cupcakes will be eaten at lunch in the cafeteria, per school policy.
Weekly Newsletters: Each Monday I will send home a class newsletter in the BEE Binder. It will have announcements and reminders for the week.
Book Orders:
I will be sending home Scholastic Book Orders each month. It is full of great books that are perfect for your child. Each order helps our classroom earn points toward free books. Please send a check made out to “Scholastic” if you choose to order. I will also be setting up the online ordering so you can do it at your home and pay by debit or credit card on the website. More information about this will go home later.
“Star of the Week”:
Each student is assigned a week during the school year where they will be the “Star of the Week”. I will send home an "It's All About Me" tee the Friday before it is his/her time.
Snack:
We will have a snack each day at 9:30. Please send one healthy snack and a drink (optional). No can drinks or sodas, please. Also, no fruits that need to be peeled (exception bananas). We only have 10-15 minutes to eat while we are working. Thank you for your cooperation.
