How can a student check out early from school?

A parent may come into the West Mall Office and check a student out at any
time with proper identification.

In addition, as described in the Student Handbook, a student may bring in an
early dismissal note signed by their parent stating the time the student
needs to be dismissed and with parent phone numbers on it to the West Mall
office BEFORE 8:30 a.m. The West Mall Office staff verifies each note they
receive by calling the student's parent.

If a student fails to bring in their early dismissal note before 8:30 a.m.,
the parent MUST COME IN TO THE OFFICE TO SIGN THE STUDENT OUT.

What if my child gets sick, parks on campus, and needs to leave school early?

If the student's parent has given written permission for dismissal in case of
illness by checking the appropriate box on the student's parking permit
application, the student may go to the West Mall Office and request early
check-out. The West Mall Office staff must speak with a parent in order to
receive permission to allow the student to drive home EVEN IF THE PARENT GAVE
PERMISSION ON THE PARKING PERMIT APPLICATION. This policy is enforced so
that parents are notified when their student leaves campus.

If such permission is granted by the parent, the student will be issued a
check-out note and allowed to leave campus. If no parent is available by
telephone, the student will not be allowed to leave campus.

Any student who parks off campus in unapproved parking and does not have a
BHS parking permit will NOT be allowed to leave campus without a parent
coming
into the school and physically checking their student out.
