What do students get in trouble most often for in your class?

My students most often get in trouble for talking while I am giving
instructions. They are allowed a lot of time to work cooperatively where they
can talk; however, when I am giving directions I expect them to be polite and
listen.

What happens if a student is caught chewing gum?

The student is asked to spit it out. The first offense is a warning. The
discipline steps are then followed (see section on Rules and Discipline).

What happens when a student does not follow the dress code?

The student is asked to fix the problem. Students are not allowed to leave
the room to take care of dress-code issues. The discipline steps are followed
if the student continues to have a problem (see section on Rules and Discipline).

What happens to a student who deliberately abuses a computer?

Luckily I have not had many students who did not take care of the computers.
Occasionally a student will mark on a computer with his/her pencil, rearrange
the keyboard keys, or change computer settings. The punishment depends on the
offense. Students will be asked to correct the issue, lose computer time
and/or receive an extra assignment. Serious offenses will be referred to the
office.

Students are not allowed to work on the computer again until extra assignments
are returned with a parent's signature.
