I have lived in Cookeville for 32 years. I am married to Lee Webb my wonderful husband who
supports me in the rewarding profession of teaching. We have three children.
My oldest daughter, Amy( a previous kindergarten teacher -now being a mom) and her husband
Chris live in St. Louis,Missouri. Chris has just completed his doctoral program at Ohio State and is
teaching at Maryville University in St.Louis, Missouri. They have three children Mary Grace,5 and
Graham,2 and Annaliese, newborn.
My second daughter Allison lives in Cookeville. Allison works full time and is attending TTU working
on a master's degree in counseling which she will complete during this academic year! She has one
son Aiden who is five and is attending kindergarten at Capshaw.
My son Drew is a UT graduate, just completing a year in working in the administrative offices at UT
and is now attending graduate school at University of Michigan to major in higher education
administration.
I earned a M.Ed. in early childhood curriculum and instruction from Middle
Tennessee State University and have 17 additional hours of post-graduate
study. I continue to seek many avenues for professional growth and learning. This summer I attended
a Leadership Institute in Rhode Island which was conducted by The National Association for the
Education of Young Children.
I have taught kindergarten for 16 years and sixth grade for three. This
begins my fifteenth year of teaching kindergarten at Capshaw. Much of my
previous experience(20 years) has been as an administrator of pre-school programs. I
have directed Cumberland Presbyterian Nursery School, Creative Learning and
the TTU Child Development Laboratory. These experiences have strengthened
my understanding of young children and their development prior to the
kindergarten year.
In the little spare time I have I am totally devoted to enjoying my adult
children and GRANDCHILDREN! I also have primary responsibility for my parents 89 and 90 which is
both demanding and rewarding. I enjoy reading, walking, drinking coffee and being outside!!
In the classroom,in addition to assisting children to learn to their
potential and stretch their academic growth, I have a strong priority for
maintaining a developmentally appropriate classroom setting and seeking to
allow the children to enjoy being children.I believe that it is important that the young child enjoys all
those things they deserve :nursery rhymes, songs, art and painting and LEARNING THROUGH PLAY!
I find each child to be unique, special and lovable.
Capshaw kindergarten will seek to develop the whole child: socially,
emotionally, physically and cognitively in a safe and developmentally
appropriate environment. It will seek to create a positive attitude toward
learning and school.
