Ms. Holly Wilkinson

Welcome to 3rd Grade! We'll be new at this together since this is my first year at Caywood.

Week of August 25, 2008

Important: No school Friday August 29 for students or September 1! Happy Labor Day!

Snacks -

Please send a healthy snack to school with your child every day so they can have something to munch on during morning break. If any parent would like to send a box of goldfish, teddy grahams, etc. for students who forget their snack, it would be appreciated!

School is in full swing now and I am expecting all the students to come to school every morning ready to learn.  In reading, we are beginning a new story – Born to Rope.  We will be doing vocabulary for the story and discussing point of view and author’s purpose.  In English, we will be discussing the four types of sentences – declarative, interrogative, exclamatory, and imperative.  We will also begin learning about nouns.  In Spelling, our spelling words will all have the short or long i sound. In Science, we will be studying the life cycle plants and photosynthesis.  This year, every student will have a data folder to keep information in.  I still need every child to bring a one inch three ring binder and a package of page dividers with tabs to school.  Every student needs one to keep a data folder of all their own work and goals they set for themselves.  Please let me know if you are unable to provide these supplies and I will make sure your child gets what he or she needs.  The students will not have school on Friday August 29 or Monday September 1.  Ms. Kelly Deere wanted to announce that all third grade students who have signed up for the musical will receive their part before they leave on Thursday (hopefully). Then our first practice is Sept. 8th in the little gym. Practices will be on Mondays from 3:00-3:45. We will not meet the Mondays we are out of school. I hope everyone has a great week!
