Caywood Achieves 2010

Thanks!

The Caywood Achieves groups have been great to work with as they've focused on NASA Space Activities for the past few sessions.  They've constructed moon habitats from rolled newspapers, tested out the Mentos Diet Coke Geyser experiment (Diet Coke definitely beat out regular Coke), made lunar ice cream, and served on the S.I.S. team (Scientific Investigative Squad) to observe, describe, and sketch samples of meteorites found on the school playground.  Strange, but these meteorites looked, smelled, and tasted just like Rice Krispie treats, Rocky Road, Brownies, and peanut brittle.

We ended yesterday with a PowerPoint we created using the photo of the day from NASA that was shot on the day each of our Achieves kids were born.  Please enjoy from home as you view some remarkable images from space taken by powerful telescopes such as the Hubble.  To access, go to School Documents, choose
Happy Birthday from NASA and SlideShow... View Show.

Next week, we will be assisting any of the Caywood Achieves kids who want to stay for a Study Jam session as they prepare for final tests.  We want our kids to score their best on these important end-of-the-year tests!

Caywood Achieves Goes Space Crazy!

The first three weeks of the extended Caywood Achieves Enrichment program finds us going to the Moon and Beyond as we explore the universe.  Don't be surprised if you see strange Moon habitats in the school lobby in the next few days.

The NASA Space Links provide us with lots of information, activities, projects, and games all space related.  Check them out at home or school.

The enrichment program begins Monday, April 26 and ends Thursday, May 27th.   Snacks are provided each meeting day from 2:45 until 3:00.  Students will be dismissed at Zone 4 (gym parking lot).  Please plan on picking your child up promptly at 4 P.M.
