Dear Families,
I enjoyed seeing so many of you at the Harvest Hoedown. Everyone seemed
to have a great time! There will not be a new vocabulary list this week due
to the unit test in Reading.
What’s happening for the week of November 16th
Reading – Unit Test on Friday
Skills – Character, Fact/Opinion, Reality/Fantasy,
Cause and Effect
English – Verbs - Test on Thursday
Students have a Chapter Check-up sheet to use
with page 120 for a study guide
Math– Function Tables Test Friday - (If you made a 100 on
the first function tables test, you will not be
required to test again on Friday)
Graphs and Tables
Science – Water Cycle and Weather & Climate
Social Studies – New Colonies
Ask your child to sing the Helping Verb Song to you that we've been
learning in class! If they memorize the song, they will know all 23 helping
verbs!!
Vocabulary words are posted on the 4th grade web page each week. You
can access these words by clicking on English, then link #17
My math class can review recent skills on-line. The following websites
can assist you with pattern practice http://www.aaamath.com/patra10htm Click
on "Find a Pattern III" then scroll down to the practice section.
http://marg.mhost.com is another helpful site. For practice on function
tables, go to www.mathplayground.com/FunctionMachine.html
Enrichment Oportunities:
1. Moon Phases - Make and label a model or diagram of the moon phases
starting with New Moon and ending with New Moon.
2. My Eplorer's Notebook - Choose an explorer and complete research on him.
Complete the sheet that goes with this.
3. Brown Bag Explorers Book - Compile information on 5 explorers and record
it on index cards to be housed in illustrated booklet made from paper
bags.
4. Sumbit any enrichment project ideas to me that you may have that would
further extend your learning. These will need to be approved by the
teacher.
5. Water Cycle - Make and label a diagram of the water cycle
6. Moon Phases of the month - Track and record the various moon phases
throughout the month.
