Hi,
Welcome to 2nd grade! My name is Paula Melhorn and I am married to Chris
Melhorn, who graduated from Coalfield School. I graduated from Wartburg
Central High School in 1982, after moving here from Westland, Michigan with
my parents, who are from here. I attended Roane State Community college and
transferred to the University of Tennessee were I received my B.A. in
Sociology and Business. I worked for many years in Anderson County for DHS
doing child protective services. After the birth of my daughter Hannah, I
enjoyed being an at home mom. When she was four and ready for school, we
chose to move back to a community and church that provided the love and
support we had experienced growing up. I became a substitute teacher for the
Morgan County Schools and realized my calling was to teach. I completed my
Masters Degree from UTK and taught a year in Knoxville, 1st grade, Roane
County, 1st and 2nd grades, and then Petros Joyner School. I began four
years ago at Coalfield teaching 2nd grade and absolutely love it! When I'm
not teaching, you can find me playing the piano and singing at Pleasant Grove
Baptist Church, working on my family scrapbooks, when I have extra time, or
usually supporting my daughter at a softball game year round. I look forward
to a WONDERFUL year!
