This Week's Plans & Assignments

Mrs. Fletcher        Week of Nov. 9-13, 2009

(*Note: These plans are subject to change as needed - thank you for your 
understanding!)

*Please remember to:
 a.  Check the "M" / Agenda on the board for assignments and tests, and 
 b.  Bring a "silent reading book" EVERY day to all classes!!

English / Language Arts classes: 

(we're continuing state standard 4 / Research, and will also be covering 
aspects of standards 3 and 6 along with specific standards listed below) 

Monday:
- notes on outlining and thesis
- Review plagiarism, paraphrasing, summarizing, and quoting (watch BrainPop 
videos)
- Using mobile lab, look up magazine source and complete notecard
 
Tuesday:  
- Using mobile lab, look up internet source and complete notecard

Wednesday:
- Practice answering L.Arts question from _ThinkLink_ test or _Study Island_
- Receive test from last Friday and begin correcting
- Use encyclopedias to create notecard for last source (unless already have a 
book!)
 
Thursday:
- Review notes on thesis statement and topic sentences
- Begin writing research paper
1.1-1.6 Everyday Edit correction

Friday:
1.1 - 1.6 Everyday Edit FOR TEST GRADE
- Corrected test DUE TODAY
- Finish writing research paper (IS DUE MONDAY!!)

Reading classes: 

(we'll be covering parts of Standards 2, 5, 7, and 8 this week in addition to 
specific state standards listed below)

Monday: 
- Take notes on and discuss novels
- View Mrs. Fletcher's TeacherWeb website (and become familiar with this 
page, so you can keep up with assignments!!)
- Using mobile lab, go to website of "Young Writers Project" and sign up
- begin writing novels and save to "Google Docs"

Tuesday:
- Take more notes on novels
- continue writing novels 

Wednesday:
- Review friendly letter format and write Thank-You letters for novels
- Present original jingles
- Continue writing novels in notebooks
- receive last week's test and begin correcting

Thursday: 
- learn new poetry term "Kyrielle"
- Create original kyrielles and present 
- read AR books / earn blue ribbons / work on novels

Friday:
- TEST over poetry terms up to this point (A-K)
- Finish correcting tests
- Read AR books silently and complete AR tests, if needed
