Mrs. Rivers' Recommendations
The Number Devil, by
Hans Magnus Enzensberger
This is a great math-related book that is funny and
educational, and is a great read! The stories are very well written and
creative, and you do not need to know a lot of math to understand them.
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time,
by Mark Haddon
Wonderful story of a 15 year old autistic boy who is trying
to solve a murder mystery after he discovers his neighbors dog is dead.
Math Doesn't Suck, by
Danica McKellar
Great book for girls showing different ways math can (and
is) used in their lives, and that they don't have to be a "nerd" just because
they're good at math! Covers important math topics like fractions, decimals,
and percents. Easy to understand.
