Dress Code 2011

 

                15. Dress and Grooming

Students shall dress and groom in a clean, neat, and modest manner in order not to distract or interfere with the educational environment of the school. Specific attire guidelines for secondary students are as follows:

  1. a.            Dress:

    (1)          All students should wear a two or three button polo style shirt with sleeves.

    (shirts must cover midriffs)

    (jacketsare allowed to be worn)

    (hoodies are considered shirts and not allowed to be worn outside of shirt)

    (2)          All pants should be khaki style of jeans that have no flaws
    (khaki style includes tan, blue, brown, black colors) cargo and corduroy style will be allowed.
    no holes, tears, frays patches, etc
    (3)          All shorts and skirts should touch the knee with no flaws
    (4)         no sportswear is acceptable attire.(gym shorts, sweat pants, etc.)

    (5) Pants are to be worn at the waistline. Pants should not drag on the floor. Shoes should be visible when the student is standing.
    6) Proper undergarments must be worn and not be visible. not be visible.

    b. Clothes, buttons, backpacks, purses, etc… with questionable slogans are not appropriate school wear. Questionable slogans include, but are not limited to, tobacco alcohol-drug advertisements; use of profanity or sexual connotations; or any type of clothing, apparel, or accessory which denotes student’s membership in, or affiliation with, any gang associated with criminal activities.

    The following are not allowed and should not be visible:

    Any body piercing other than ears; sweatbands, bandannas, combs; chains worn from the belt or wallet; body or facial painting; large chains worn around neck or wrist; spiked necklaces and bracelets; grills worn on teeth; sunglasses, caps, or hats inside the building.


    -If any of these items are visible they could be taken up and have parent pick-up.

    d. Shoes must be worn at all times.
    e. Hair colored other than natural human colors and multi-colored hair are not permissible.
  2. Hair should not be worn in spikes. Mohawk hair styles are not allowed.

    Any dress or hairstyle that detracts from the educational environment will not be tolerated

Every offense is an opportunity to change. If not they will spend the rest of the day in ISS.

(1) First offense: 1 day of After-School

(2) Second offense: 2 days After-School; contact parent

(3) Third offense: 3 days of After-School; contact parent

(4) Fourth offense: 5 days of Behavior Modification; contact parent

(5) Fifth offense: Willful violation of school rules: 3 days at NDA

g. Cougar Pride Days:

There will be days announced by the principal when cougar pride shirts may be worn:

T-shirts with school logo. T-shirts that are blue and orange.

T-shirts that promote a school sponsored club.

Team jersey.

Teacher’s request

The pant dress code will still be in effect on Cougar Pride Days.
