I am a Weakley County native (my father is from Dresden and my mother grew up
near Dresden and Martin) but my family moved to Arizona when I was three
because of my father's respiratory problems. Each year we returned in the
summer to see the grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc. When I was 12,
my father decided to return to Tennessee and moved our family to
McMinnville. I graduated from high school there in 1974 and came back to
Weakley County in 1975 to attend college at UTM. I received a degree in
Liberal Arts, with a major in Spanish and a minor in French, in 1979. I
worked at Reelfoot Bank in Union City for over seven years and then decided
to switch to a career in education.

I first began working in Weakley County Schools in 1986 as a French teacher
at Dresden High School. I eventually started teaching Spanish there and left
DHS to teach at Westview in 2004. During my tenure at Dresden High School, I
obtained my master's degree in curriculum and instruction and later my
licensure as an administrator. In 2007, I was given the opportunity to
return to Dresden as the principal of DMS. It has been a pleasure working
with former colleagues and students as co-workers and as parents.
