Report Card Skills

  • This is a list of skills that Kindergarten students will be tested over each
    six weeks.
    
 

First Six Weeks

  • Identify letters (A-Z)
  • Identify numbers (0-25)
  • Produce sounds for Mm and Tt
  • Read high frequency words: I, am, the, little, to, a 

Second Six Weeks

  • Sort objects by characteristics
  • Use position words (above, below, left, right)
  • Participate properly in group conversations
  • Clap out syllables
  • Produce sounds for Aa, Ss, Pp, Cc, and Ii
  • Read high frequency words: have, is, we, my, like, he, for 

Third Six Weeks

  • Identify opposites
  • Asks questions to clarify understanding
  • Answer questions about a text
  • Recognize types of text
  • Understands the role of the author and illustrator of a story
  • Identify the cover, back cover, and title page of a book
  • Follows words left to right, top to bottom
  • Recognizes & produces rhyming words
  • Produce sounds for Bb, Nn, Rr, Dd, Kk, Ff, Oo
  • Read color words: red, yellow, blue, orange, purple, green, black, white, gray, pink, brown
  • Read high frequency words: me, with, she see, look, they, you, of
  • Identify numbers (0-10)
  • Match sets to numbers (0-10)
  • Sequence (1-10)

Fourth Six Weeks

  • Identify sets with more
  • Identify sets with less
  • Identify sets that are equal
  • Identify shapes: circle, triangle, square, rectangle, hexagon, cone, cube, sphere, cylinder
  • Writes letters & numbers legibly
  • Recognizes punctuation (. ? !)
  • Blends sounds to decode a word
  • Produce sounds for Hh, Ll, Gg, Ee
  • Read high frequency words: are, that, do, one, three, two, five, four, here, go, from

Fifth Six Weeks

 * Make comparisons (longer/shorter, heavier/lighter)
* Forms plural nouns orally
* Understands and uses question words (who, what, where, why)
* Attempts to spell simple words
* Retells a story
* Identifies character, setting, and events of a story
* Uses context clues to understand unknown words in a story
* Uses illustrations to understand a story
* Engages in group reading activities
* Identifies beginning sounds
* Identififes medial sounds
* Identifies ending sounds
* Reads text with decodable and high frequency words
* Writes using drawings and temporary or creative spelling
* Recognizes capitalization at the beginning of a sentence
* Produce sounds for Ww, Jj, Xx, Uu, Vv, Zz, Yy, Qq

Sixth Six Weeks

  • Add using manipulatives
  • Subtract using manipulatives
  • Counts to 100 by ones
  • Count forward beginning at a given number
  • Count to 100 by tens
  • Produces complete sentences
  • Capitalizes the first word in a sentence and the word I
  • Compares and contrasts characters and events of familiar stories
  • Participates in shared research and writing projects
  • Uses digital tools to publish writing
