How do I know what my child has for homework tonight?

GREAT QUESTION! Every child has purchased an AGENDA. Inside the
agenda I have the students write down all of their assignments as
soon as they come in each morning. Please ask your son/daughter
to see their agenda. This lets you know what they have for
homework.

My child says he/she has already finished the homework in the agenda.

Every student has a "Take-Home" folder (yellow) in which all
homework is kept. If your child mentions they have
finished their homework, you should look inside his/her "Take-
Home"
folder (yellow). If it is finished, it will be in the "I'm
finished!" pocket of the folder. All work that is not completed
is found in the "To Be Completed" pocket. Please call/email if
you have any concerns.

My son/daughter found their homework (due today) in their bookbag tonight. May he/she turn it in tomorrow?

Unfortunately, no. Mrs. Crews and I do not accept late work in
hopes of instilling responsibility and self-worth into our
students. However, if they are absent, they will have as many
days as they were absent to make up the work. Please feel free
to contact me with any quetsions/concerns.

Can I check my child's grade averages from home/work?

YES! You can sign onto gradespeed from any computer with
internet access. See my LINKS icon to be re-directed to the
gradespeed homepage. Please take advantage of this opportunity!

I saw on Gradespeed that my child's grades are dropping. Is there anything we can do to raise his/her grade?

Yes! Your son/daughter may re-do assignments they are not happy
with in the Friday folder. All assignments (except for
tests/quizzes) are eligible for higher grades if corrected at
home).

How will you communicate with us at home?

I have several methods of communication. The first is Friday
Folders, which serve as a weekly update of your child's
progress.

Two-Week Check-ups are another communication tool I use. Every
two weeks, your child will come home with a Two Week Check up to
be signed by you and returned with their Friday Folder on Monday
morning. The check up will serve to update families of both
student behavior and grades.

Please know that I welcome any and all communication with you
all! I look forward to forming a team to support your child's
incredible growth and development this year!

My child was absent yesterday. What are your policies for absent work, etc?

If a child is absent, they will have a "While You Were Out"
packet awaiting them in the room when they return. The due date
for the work is attached. Please remind your child to leave all
stapled papers as they are. This way I am able to ensure that
all work is turned in on time.
Every child will have as many days as they were absent to turn in
absent work. For example, if a child was sick for 2 days, he/she
will have 2 days to turn in the work that was missed. Work that
is turned in after the 2 days will not be accepted.
If a quiz/test is given while a child is absent, it is his/her
responsibility to come to me for the make-up as soon as they
return (or by the date mentioned on their "While You Were Out".
