A WORD FROM THE TEACHER
My name is Leigh Anne Allen. I am from Jackson, Tn. I was born and
raised there.
I am a product of years of public education in the Jackson school system
and private education at the college/university level. I have taught for 18
years. I have taught in private school and public school and christian
school. I am a strong believer and supporter of public education. I have
seen a lot of
kids and a lot of teaching ideas. I am thankful we have all these different
choices as parents for our children’s education as children are different and
have different needs and learn best in the environment suited to meet their
needs. I have varied
teaching experience for which I am thankful. I have taught preschool, first
grade, second grade, fourth grade, and third grade, and have done enrichment
with every grade
from preK through eighth grade. Now I am going to be a fourth grade teacher
agian.
I have a bachelor’s degree from Union University and a master’s degree
from Freed Hardeman University. I have also taken some courses beyond the
master’s level. Degrees are important but they do not make the teacher. I
believe teachers are called into the profession. It is a calling on one’s
life much like the call of being a parent or a pastor. Teaching is not
just a job, but is a ministry to children and parents. I partner with
you in raising your child to be prepared for life as an adult. It is a
physically and mentally challenging job. It can be exhausting and so can
parenting. Please keep in mind that I do both, teach and parent. Please
support me and I will support you. We both have your child’s best interest
at heart. You are the parent and are ultimately responsible for your child’s
well being. I will respect and honor your wishes as best as I can.
I have been married for 21 years to the same man and I have two
children, ages 13 years and 16 years. I reside in Jackson and commute to
Brownsville daily to serve you and your children.
I attend Poplar Heights Baptist Church and teach 5-6th grade girls Sunday
School.
I covet your prayers and patience as I venture into a new school full of new
challenges. I believe that together, we can makea difference in your child's
life.
Looking forward to a great new year!
Mrs. Allen
