When would be the best time for me to schedule doctor appointments?
If possible, schedule doctor appointments after lunch. The best day would
be
on Tuesday. They have art and music on Tuesdays. Therefore, they will have
less work to make up.
We are going on vacation next week. Can I get my child's work early?
I do not like to give work out ahead of time. I have planned what we are
going to do in the weeks to come. However, we do not always get to what I
have planned due to interruptions and student understanding. Therefore, I
like to give them the work they missed when they return. They have three
days to make up the work missed but I will give extra time for special
circumstances.
My child was absent today. Do I need to come get their work today?
No, your child can pick up his/her work when they return to school. If they
have been out more than three days, you may want to call me. I do not like
to gather their work if they have only been out a couple of days. I like to
be able to go over the work with them. It also is a hassle for me to gather
all books, papers, and workbooks for your child while I am in the middle of
class. It is just easier for your child and me to wait until they return.
Remember: They have three days from when they return to turn
absent work in.
What day do we send lunch money and snack money?
Lunch money can be sent any day of the week. However, sending it on Monday
is usually best. Ice cream must be paid on a daily basis.
Can parents go on field trips?
Most of the field trips we go on are limited seating or small rooms.
Therefore, we can usually handle the class on our own.
How can my child bring their average up?
FOR MATH
If a student makes 70 or below on anything done in math, they may redo the
missed items for extra points to be added to their score. When they receive
their graded paper back, they have until the next day to correct and return
it to me. The corrected paper should be on a new sheet of paper stapled to
the original. I also periodically give bonuses.
FOR SPELLING
Spelling tests cannot be redone. I try to provide at least 3 bonus
opportunities for each test, each worth 2 points each. I also count the
review and challenge words as extra credit. Therefore, your child has the
opportunity to score 116 on each spelling test.
How much is lunch and ice cream?
Lunch is $2.25 per day. I prefer lunch to be paid on Mondays.
Ice cream is $.50. Please pay this on a daily basis.

I check my email periodically throughout the day. Therefore, you can email

May I supply birthday snacks for my child?
Yes! Send the snacks with your child as he/she comes to school or drop off
the snacks in the office during the day.
How can I be informed of my child's grades?
You and your child need to work out a system as to where they are placing
graded papers. You can also check grades on my website. I TRY to update
them on Tuesdays or Wednesdays during my long breaks.
Why can't my child have a cell phone at school?
Due to any number of potential problems (texting during class, receiving
information during school hours, making unapproved calls, etc.) our school
board adopted a "no cell phone" policy during school hours.
