I chose to not have a class pet because I am not good at taking care of small pets such as fish and hermit crabs. I chose instead to have a class mascot - a small teddy bear we call Brownie Bear. I draw a student's name from our container each Friday for someone to take Brownie home with them. The student takes Brownie and a page to draw a picture and write about their adventure with her over the weekend. When they bring Brownie and their page back on Monday, they share it with the class. The page then goes into a book about Brownie's adventures during the school year. Each student has a turn to have an adventure with Brownie. When all of the students have had their turn, we then ask other people in our school to share an adventure with us.
