GHS Band Directors

David Earl, Director of Bands

Mr. Earl was born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee. He attended McGavock High School and holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Middle Tennessee State University. He is in his nineteenth year of teaching and has taught at Mt. Pleasant High School, Joelton Middle School, Wade Elementary School, Northside Elementary School, and DeKalb County High School. He has also been on the band staff with Overton High School, Father Ryan High School, Columbia High School, and Riverdale High School. Mr.
Earl married his high school sweetheart, Christy Jackson, and has three wonderful boys - Jonathan, Christopher, and Benjamin.
Mr. Earl currently performs with the dance band "Radio Daze" and works as a studio musician in Nashville.

Keith Heim, Assistant Director

Mr. Heim was born in Aurora, Nebraska, graduated from high school in Bluffs, Illinois, and currently resides in Mount Juliet. He holds Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Music Education from Western Illinois University. This is his twelfth year of teaching and his fourth at Gallatin High School, having previously spent eight years at Donelson Middle School in Nashville. While in college he marched with the Crossmen
Drum and Bugle Corps and currently performs with the Moonlighters Big Band and is the Music Director/Principal Conductor of the Nashville Community Concert band. When not making music he enjoys spending time with the two lovely ladies in his life - his wife Molly and his Daughter Morgan. Mr. Heim is an avid sports fan whose favorite teams include the Nashville Predators, Tennessee Titans, University of Nebraska Cornuskers, and the St. Louis Cardinals. Mr. Heim is a poker enthusiast, and during summer vacation he can usually be found on one of the many golf courses around the Nashville area.
