Originally from Jackson, Mississippi, I share my love of the deep south and
its many delightful traditions with my wonderful husband, Gary Smith. We have
two adult children, one son-in-law, two perfect grandchildren, and two
miniature schnauzers.
I am a member of First Baptist Church; honorary teachers' sororities, Alpha
Delta Kappa and Delta Kappa Gamma; P.E.O.; Opportunity for Adult Reading; the
March of Dimes; and I actively campaign for political leaders who share my
beliefs and concerns.
I have been honored by being selected as "Teacher of the Year" several times
throughout my teaching career and as the "2006 Teacher of the Year" for
George R. Stuart School, for Cleveland City Schools, for Cleveland and
Bradley Counties, and for the Southeast Region of Tennessee.
I earned my Master's + 45 Certification from Cumberland University, Master
of Arts Degree from the University of South Alabama, and Bachelor of Science
in Education Degree from Mississippi College.
I enjoy working with children, reading, camping, canoeing, fishing, shopping,
cooking, and traveling.
My husband and I have been to the Holy Land, Cozumel, Alaska, Cancun, the
Virgin Islands, Dominica, Barbados, Aruba, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Italy,
Greece, Turkey, Canada, Mexico, the Greek Isles, the Bahamas, Austria,
France, to Omaha and Utah D-Day Beaches in Normandy, and to most U.S. states.
Did I say we love to travel? :)
I am looking forward to a wonderful year with your child and working with you
to assure his/her success in every area of our curriculum.
Teaching is the BEST profession in the world!
It is an honor to be a part of it.
To foster a life-long love of learning and the desire to continue this
educational journey with enthusiasm and the knowledge that each
person DOES make a difference.
