We are going to be published authors!

Our class has been given a unique opportunity this semester. School Books Press has requested to work with our students to publish their writing. This is an organization that is working to encourage student writing by publishing classroom writing projects at no cost to the school or students.

This semester, our class will work with School Books Press to publish our very own classroom book. Each student who decides to include a piece of work in the book will receive a book of their own at no cost. Additional copies of the book will also be available for purchase via Ingram Books, Amazon, and other e-book formats.

This is a very exciting means of encouraging our students to write. When the process is complete, each student will be a published author!

In order to be involved, each student must have a completed release form on file. If you do not wish for your child to be involved, please return the form with thedo not give permissionline checked.

Please read the attached release form and complete and return to school by January 20,2012.

Thank you!

Guided Reading Groups are up and running again!  Be sure to have your child read his or her book two times every night!

Your child is learning to read!  This is an exciting, important process in which I would love for you to take part!  Each night, Monday through Thursday, your child will bring home a different book that is on his or her reading level.  Your child should be able to read the book with little, to no assistance because of work already done with the book in reading groups.  To become a confident, fluent reader, it is important for your child to read this book several times.  Make sure that your child reads this book at least two times each night.  Place the book back in your child’s take home folder and send it back to school.  A new book will come back home in the folder the following week night.  There is a $5.00 replacement fee for books that are lost, or damaged.  (Note:  Books will not be sent home on Fridays, or over long weekends and breaks.)

I hope this is an enjoyable experience for both you and your child.  Remember, siblings also make great reading partners!  Thank you for your support!
