My name is Leslie Smith, and I am excited to have your child in my room this
year. I have been teaching at Martin Elementary since August 2001, and I have
taught T-1, fifth,second, and first grades during that time. I am happily
married to Mr. Jeff Smith, who is a sixth grade teacher here at
Martin. I have two children of my own. My daughter, Riley, is in Third Grade
this year at Martin, and my son, Hayden, is in First Grade.
It is my strong belief that one of the most important keys to a successful
year is the creation and maintenance of a positive and frequent communication
link with you. Please feel free to contact me with any questions and/or
concerns that you might have. As you will soon see, first grade is an
unbelievable challenging year that presents many challenges that your child.
It is my hope, to be of the utmost assistance, to both you and your child, to
make sure that those challenges yield both success and satisfaction. Thank
you in advance for assisting me in making sure that your child has
the quality education that they deserve.
The mission for our class this year is to have a fun and exciting adventure in
our pursuit of meeting and/or exceeding all of the Tennessee State Standards
for the first grade curriculum. It is my hope, that along the way, your child
will strive for their greatest potential,develop and enhance their personal
abilities to accept responsibility, and recognize that they are truly one of a
kind with tremendous worth and value in a rapidly changing world.
