PRESS RELEASE
For Immediate Release
The Greeneville City School System puts Kids First while saving fuel and improving public health
with Clean School Bus USA Program.
Voluntary Idle-Reduction Campaign to Improve Health and Safety of Kids and Community.
With fuel prices soaring, it is important to think about conserving fuel. The Greeneville City
School system is doing its part to save money and conserve diesel fuel by launching an Idle-
Reduction Campaign for its school bus fleet. By simply shutting off the engine when the buses
are parked, Greeneville City Schools plan to save hundreds of dollars this next school year.
Plans are in place to train bus drivers as well as passing a district-wide policy regarding
engine idle reduction.
Doing Our Part
The Greeneville City School System is taking the lead on improving the health and safety of kids
who ride school buses in the community by participating in the National Clean Diesel Campaign
Clean School Bus USA Program - a voluntary program originated by the US Environmental Protection
Agency (EPA), to help communities across the nation take action for a cleaner, healthier
environment.
The Greeneville City Schools will be kicking off the Idle-Reduction Campaign effective July 1,
2007. Phillip Graham, Greeneville City Schools Operations Manager, and Jackie Seaton,
Transportation Manager, are spearheading the project.
