How can I monitor my child's progress?
All scores will be entered at the end of each week. You may monitor your child's progress on GradeSpeed.
My child turned an assignment in late. What deductions will be made?
Half credit is given for late papers. When your child's grade note indicates
a missing paper, this paper can be turned in for half credit.
Papers that are more than one week late will not be accepted.
What should I do if I need a conference?
Please call to schedule an appointment. Watching your child's progress from
week to week usually allows us to confer by phone. If you write a note on
your child's report, I will respond within one day of receiving the report
from your child. We can usually work out any communication by email or phone.
When are emails answered?
I rarely check email from school. I am with your children and do not feel I
should be checking email at a computer during this time. I do, however,
check my email before leaving for school in the morning and upon returning
home. Occasionally I will have time to check my email after school
dismisses. Please use the email listed on my web page rather than the MNPS
mail.
How does my child get his/her make-up work?
All work for the week is posted on this web site and on the white board in the
classroom. This work is posted for the entire week. If not, your child can
ask for it.
I will keep copies of any worksheets that your child needs. Your child is responsible for getting the work from the "Makeup Work" folder.
It is the student's responsibility to get any notes that
may have been given during an absence. I also expect the student to take the
initiative in asking for any worksheets that were assigned.
Many students copy the assignments for the week in a planner. They check the
board daily to see if assignment changes were made. This will happen, based
on the overall progress of the class during the week.
How do I access my child's math text online?
Each student has access to the eText. You should not rely on this completely as many assignments will not come from the text alone.
What is the policy on calculators?
Calculators will be used on specific topics during the year. When it is
appropriate to use a calculator, the lesson will be practiced using a
calculator. Any homework on the same topic will, of course, be a
"calculator-okay" assignment.
Unless it is specifically announced, you may assume that an assignment is NOT
calculator-okay. I try to post this when assignments are listed on the web
page.
