I expect that all homework assignments are written in the
students' planners daily. If you feel that your child is not
writing down the homework I would be happy to sign his/her
planner to verify the homework or that there is no homework.
First of all, if a student is absent for any part of the day
(whether it is one class or all day), they need to get an admit
slip before going to first period. The admit table is set up in
the foyer of the morning. Students must bring a note for the
absence be excused. If they forget the note, they still have to
get an admit slip that will say the absence is unexcused. If
they bring the note the next day, they can get a new admit that
will show the absence as excused.
If at all possible you should let me know that the student is
going to be absent (Doctors appt, funeral, etc) that way I can
get the assignments to him/her. The homework portion of this web
page also tells what we are going to be doing in class. The
office also has a copy of my syllabus weekly. When your child
comes back to school, he/she will need to check the make-up work
calendar and check for any worksheets that need to be done.
Students have the number of days plus one to get makeup work
turned in.
It is possible that the syllabus will be different that what your
child has written in his/her agenda. Sometimes lessons take more
or less time to complete something than I thought they would. If
this happens then go with what your child has written down in
their planner (unless it is nothing). If your child has not
written anything down then you can go contact me via
email or phone to clarify.
There are several ways you can help our class and/or the school:
Volunteer to be a guest reader
Volunteer to chaperone field trips
Volunteer to help put up bulletin boards, make copies, etc.
